Defence firm QinetiQ has has called in security guards to block access to the popular naturist beach in Portsmouth.

QinetiQ (privatised from part of the Ministry of Defence) is trying to get permission to build 131 flats on a former MOD site adjacent to Eastney beach.

"The defence group had previously said it would allow public access to the area, in Portsmouth, Hants, if the city council permitted them to widen the road leading to the development site."
